If we make ample space in our daily lives to meditate on the living word received outside of meeting for worship, then I believe we can depend on the Lord to raise up that word in our hearts once again when we enter corporate worship (if it is appropriate to do so), without any effort on our part to remember it. Corporate worship "space" is a new creation, affected mightily by the intention and preparation, not to say presence, of each individual worshipper. If it is right to say, then that will become clear to the receptive worshipper without carrying that intention into the worship. So hear, accept the word, and then let it go until there is a fresh putting forth of the Spirit once one has settled into meeting.

--llwAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1355594093712358164.post-58538387139998401572006-10-20T06:26:00.000-05:002006-10-20T06:26:00.000-05:00My sense is when Bownas advised that a minister sh...My sense is when Bownas advised that a minister should be like blank paper when he comes into a meeting, he went a step too far.

If we feel moved by the inward Guide, before we ever enter a meeting for worship, to deliver some message to the meeting, that motion of the Guide should not be dismissed because of its timing. Ditto with a motion of the Guide, before we ever enter a meeting, that we should simply be silent this time around. We certainly do well to wait and feel that motion remaining still with us once the meeting is settled! But a genuine motion from God is a genuine motion from God, and the proper response to any such motion, regardless of its timing or form, is gratitude and obedience.Marshall Massey (Iowa YM [C])http://journal.earthwitness.org/the-quaker-magpie-journal/noreply@blogger.com
