I said something to someone over the weekend about the "perfect love that drives out fear" and I think another part of that would be the healing aspect of Christ's spirit in the heart. That people who may come into the community wounded should experience Christ in a way that heals those wounds and takes away the pain, as the relationship deepens.

Michael, I think it is something that a lot of people are probably wrestling with. Dallas Willard says it another way, "among those who live as Jesus' apprentices there are no relationships that omit the presence and action of Jesus."

With Jesus as the mediator of our relationships, we have no reason to fear opening up. We are safe in Christ.

Many liberal Friends don't have that sense of Jesus immediate presence as mediator of relationships (which early Friends certainly had). This makes deep involvement in each other's lives difficult.

When I moved from a liberal Friends meeting to a church focused on following Jesus Christ, I found an enormous difference in the normal quality of the interactions among those in the congregation.Bill Samuelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00752443575410023776noreply@blogger.com
